Supposedly, snow permitting, I will be trudging back to University on Monday. I say this with immense joy in my bouyant heart.
Not.
You see, holidays were pretty average. Not dire, not exciting, just average. Until I received a lovely email (via Facebook - classy) informing me that I am to move out before third year starts. There's been somewhat of a personality clash this year between myself and one of my two flatmates. Had we been living in a normal flat, we'd have just grinned and beared it. However. The flat we reside in is owned by the flatmate. Therefore, in the case of us being unable to live with each other, the short straw is mine. Always mine.
So, because we "haven't really got on as well this year as we did last year", I'm being kicked out. Typically, I'm told this just after the deadline for commercial halls closes. The only rooms left are £115 a week. Which I most definitely cannot afford.
I really did not think I would be perusing the letting agent's websites again after only such a short period of time. What makes it suck worse? That my current rent is the outer limit of what I can afford, and was subsidised by the fact that the flat is 'friend'-owned. Next year is gonna involve a lot more cash, more loans, more overdrafts, and more debt. Thanks, richkid.

Mental
Ninety quid up, several energy levels down. Bonus was entrance to the Member's Bar for an extreme Pimm's sesh after sign out :D
Now I'm back to the land of the unemployed, although I have an application form on my desk for the local Independant Hospital, which cares for adults under the Mental Health Act. My mum worked at a similar place for kids before I was born, which is enough for her to warn me against it, but it would be awesome experience for clinicals. And getting paid to do what I've done previously as a hospital volunteer would always be appreciated.
I think I can cope with it, and it would only be for a few months, until I go back to uni, and then there would be the opportunity to work with them again in future holidays. We'll see...

And the meat went MOO.
I am totally zonked.
Day 1 of the show is over. Who puts the vegetarian on the Carvery?!? Either way, back into the world of work at last, with the prospect of more casual labour for them at other events. And sneaky access to the Members' Bar once I was signed out! Appalled that the rich Members get the cheaper Pimms!!
One more day to go. Then cash in hand! Woohoo! That'll pay for the anniversary weekend! R's present arrived today :) Gorgeous red fountain pen with a personal engraving. It's awesome!
Bath. Bed. And somewhere in that, wash my bowtie.

Never volunteer, always delegate
My bestest buddy H is away travelling in Asia for several weeks. So guess which numpty volunteered to organise our summer holiday while she was away?
Never again, I swear.
The logistics of dates and people was sorted before I was handed the reins, so it wasn't supposed to be complicated.
Have you ever tried booking flights for eight people? Of which you've never met three of them? Also including two who are away at uni? And one who can't pay until the end of the month? Oh, and one who only needs a flight home as he's meeting us in Spain?
Nightmare.

Give me my laptop now (not caring that it will depreciate in the five months til uni and be shit and out of date)
The Mac vs Windows argument is over. It got sidetracked slightly by geeks. I do not want Linux.
I like over-commercialised, capitalist products that have brand names that I recognise.
It's why I buy music from iTunes instead of illegal downloads. It's why I have an iPod, not a general mp3 player.
You buy a Ford car, not a generic, cheap, manufactured in somebody's spare room car with a name that has far too many x's and k's and z's. Those consonants are for long words and foreign languages.
That part of the argument was over quickly. It went something like this:

And then someone pointed out the comparable expense of a Macbook. COMPLETELY IGNORING ITS SLEEK GORGEOUS LOOKS. Ugh. Some people have weird priorities.
